Into the Woods pt. 1

Hi! Whew, I want to apologize for not sitting down to blog in a while, but some of you might have noticed its snowy and icy down here!

Miss Blair can't seem to figure it out.

It has been a struggle juggling safe travel to work, and honestly, now that I have 2 days off before call, I'm not going to leave if I don't have to. Which brings me to my original reasoning, it's a perfect time to quilt!

So, I've been working on 2 projects, one for John's sister and one for his mother. I chose Moda's Into the Woods fabric for his sister and I'm using a Moda Bake Sale pattern that I adore. It's been a busy cutting and rearranging process, especially when the mild OCD kicks in, but it's turning out great!

I love how scrappy and mish-moshy this is turning out! I'm hoping to get the top quilted and basted tomorrow, I would feel accomplished. 😂 Truthfully, I do have the weekend, so I'm hoping that if the pager stays quiet, I can get it all quilted. I haven't decided how yet, so there's time still.

Well I hope everyone is staying warm, I certainly will be staying cozy! I'll be sure to post more updates as the quilting progresses. 😊💕✂️

EDIT: So, the more this quilt comes together, the more I hate and love it all at the same time haha. I love this fabric and this go around, I'm going to be quilting as I go, so I'll be adapting some techniques that are not my own, but seem like they'll be easier to do on my regular sewing machine. I'm free motion quilting my rows and borders, and then I'll attach the backing.

I'm not very good at the free motion part, so I hope I'll get better with practice. I ran out of thread with about 5-6 inches left (Nooooooooo 😭😩😂) so I'll need to make a thread run down here in Charlotte. I'm visiting my parents for the weekend, a break from the crazy snow I've had recently! I'll check back in later next week with more project pics!

Miss Jennifer's Quilt

Y'all. This project will be the death of me. I was supposed to finish this by Christmas... Obviously DIDN'T happen haha.

After I searched for what felt like a month for fabric that I felt like Jennifer would like. Let me tell you about Jennifer. Imagine the essence of "Georgia Peach" with the biggest heart but with a degree in Sports Medicine. I know, right?? She is the PERFECT match for my little brother, and I adore her so. She went through some family struggles over the holidays and I wanted to give her a little piece of comfort.

So. Back to progress. It's been an adventure getting this done. I chose lots of pinks, aquas and cream with a bit of forest green to remind her of home. I haven't made this journey alone however...

Blair loves to help...

The quilt top!

Piecing these blocks together was tedious but so much fun. This block is my favorite I think. Lots of Moda and Freespirit fabrics!

This will get straight line quilted and hopefully bound by the end of this weekend. I will post the finished project as soon as it's done! I'm so excited to give this to her. 😊

EDIT:
It's all finished!!! Hand bound, straight-line quilted and ready to send to Jennifer, I am so EXCITED for her to receive it!

My next project will be to make my bestie her overdue quilt. Not having a project to work on makes me feel restless, silly right? :)

Yay for New Projects!

Hey everyone!
You know, truthfully, I really needed a spot to write about, post pictures about, and document this new crazy hobby of mine. Eventually I'm sure that other things will take precedence and no one famous will be reading these so I think it's safe to say, welcome to my blog!

I've made a few projects already and honestly I wish I had started this sooner so I could have posted these as I made them. :( But! Here are a few pictures of my past projects.

Baby Oliver loved his blanket for Christmas! Seriously, the cutest baby ever 😊

My first attempt at freemotion quilting. Not my best work but after a few squares I feel like I got the hang of it.

This one is probably my favorite to date so far. I made this for a coworker and she absolutely loved it!

From here on out, I'll be posting updates and pictures of all my upcoming projects! I think it'll be so much easier keeping all this in one spot. Yay for new projects!
